The New Information about Adiponectin

Adiponectin, also known as adipocyte complement-related protein of 30kDa (ACRP30), is a secreted serum protein expressed exclusively in differentiated adipocytes. Adipocytes produce and secrete a number of proteins, including leptin, adipsin, properdin, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF).
Studies indicated that decreased plasma adiponetin concentration is associated with obesity, insulin resistance, essential hypertension, inflammation and atherosclerosis, and acute myocardial infarction. Mouse Adiponectin (Acrp30) ELISA kit cross reactivity was tested with the following serum proteins at 1ng/ml: Human Acrp30, Human gAcrp30, and Mouse gAcrp30 all had less than 1% cross reactivity.
The following serum?s were also tested at 1:100 dilutions: Rat, Guinea Pig, Bovine, Human, and Goat all had less than 1% reactivity.
On the other hand, increased adiponectin level leads to nephrotic syndrome. Adiponectin also has antiinflammatory effects on the cells lining the walls of blood vessels.
Adiponectin is a protein hormone secreted exclusively by adipocytes that regulates the metabolism of lipids and glucose. Adiponectin inluences the body's response to insulin and has also anti-inflammatory effects on the cells lining the walls of blood vessels. High blood levels of adiponectin are associated with a reduced risk of heart attack. Genetic variations in adiponectin gene are associated with diabetes mellitus type 2. Adiponectin might be used in the treatment of diabetes type 2 and insulin resistance.
